Why this event matters:

The dangers, preventions, and treatment of colorectal cancer are not widely known or discussed because colon cancer affects a part of the body that people often find embarrassing and are ashamed of talking about.  Meanwhile colorectal cancer is the 2nd most common cause of cancer death in men and women in the US, affects approximately 150K people a year, 1/3 of which will die of the disease.   This is because 1 in 3 Americans, even those with insurance, are NOT screened when recommended. It is a leading cause of cancer death in young men and women between the ages of 20 and 49!  Colon cancer is beatable in 90% of cases when detected early, and with appropriate screening, and is often entirely preventable.
