Bill Frank
Patrick W. (Bill) Frank, DC is an Associate Professor of Neurobiology & Anatomy at Drexel University College of Medicine’s West Reading Campus, where he teaches gross anatomy, microanatomy, and embryology in the first-year curriculum and facilitates case-based learning. He also coordinates two fourth-year elective courses and serves as faculty advisor for the Attending Musicians student group. He has taken on a new administrative role as executive director in the Office of Assessment and Evaluation.
Dr. Frank earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the National College of Chiropractic (now National University of Health Sciences) and holds a Diplomate in Clinical Acupuncture from the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture through New York Chiropractic College (now Northeast College of Health Sciences). Prior to transitioning to academia, he practiced chiropractic care for 23 years, where nutrition played a significant role in his clinical approach and continues to inform his academic interests.
Prior to joining Drexel, Dr. Frank spent a decade teaching undergraduate and graduate-level anatomy at the University of Toledo College of Medicine & Life Sciences. There, he developed elective courses promoting gross anatomy research and published multiple manuscripts with student collaborators. He also helped launch mentorship initiatives for pre-med and high school students, including the Student-2-Student program and the Pre-Med Mentorship Program.
A committed educator and advocate for anatomical sciences outreach, Dr. Frank contributes to the national Anato-Bee high school competition and co-founded the Anatomy Institute and Dissection Experience (AIDE) at Drexel. His research focuses on anatomical variations and plastination, a tissue preservation technique , and he has also contributed wellness articles exploring the gut–brain axis for the My Gut Instinct blog, reflecting his longstanding interest in the role of nutrition in health.
He is a member of the American Association for Anatomy and the American Association of Clinical Anatomists. Dr. Frank serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Plastination and the European Journal of Anatomy, is a council member of the International Society for Plastination and currently serves as Council President of the Humanity Gift Registry of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
