COVID-19 PANDEMIC
In the last 24 hours, the World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 (corona virus) a global pandemic. The world is dealing with an issue of enormous scale and human impact, and our thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been affected by the outbreak of the coronavirus.
We believe it is our role and responsibility during this time to prioritize two things: the health and well-being of our community members while also doing our part as a nonprofit health promoting organization to play a constructive role in supporting local health officials as they work to contain the virus.
To reiterate what has already been shared by the Center for Disease Control and the World Health organization:
•Cover coughs or sneezes with your elbow. Do not use your hands!
•Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
•Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
•Avoid close contact.
•Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, remotes, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks and other frequently touched items.
•Stay away from others; stay HOME if you are sick
If your child is sick and running a fever, defined as a temperature greater than or equal to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, please keep them out of school until they are fever-free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medications. Please communicate with your school if your child is sick so if necessary, other parents can be informed.
•Avoid handshaking for now and use other non-contact methods of greeting.
•Clean hands at the door and at regular intervals.
•Create habits and reminders to avoid TOUCHING YOUR FACE.
•Increase ventilation by opening windows or adjusting air conditioning.
Thank you for doing your part to stop the spread of germs and disease in our community. Together, we will emerge stronger from our collective efforts to contain this infection.
Take care of yourself and each other.
In Health,
Your Friends at My Gut Instinct
